Results from Hamilton Golf Club 2024 Championships

Hamilton Golf Club have completed their men’s and women’s club championships for 2024.  After three rounds in the men’s open Wayne Riddle was one shot ahead of Graham Rentsch and Liam Powell with Mal Groves a further three shots behind. After playing the front 9 holes on Sunday Riddle was two shots ahead of Rentsch and Powell, then Powell birdied the 10th and 11th holes to actually take the lead going into the 12th hole. Riddle steadied and played consistent golf to finish the last seven holes with all pars and one bogie, while Powell parred the 12th but then went on to bogie or double bogie the last 6 holes, giving Riddle his third Club Championship win. 
Final tally was Riddle 310, runner’s up was Liam Powell 317, third Mal Groves 318 and fourth Graham Rentsch 319.
In B grade Stuart McAdam had four consistent rounds and was a run away winner finishing ten shots ahead of Chris Eales. McAdam 320, runner’s up Eales 330, third Chris Crane 334 and fourth spot going to Martin Pitts 336. 
C and D grade was the best of three rounds with their final rounds being played on Saturday. In C grade Stephen Giles produced his best ever round of golf with an 83 off the stick giving him a total of 262 to take the championship from Guy Sevior 268 with Wayne Millard coming third with 270 and Rob Vecchiet rounding out the placings on 277.
In D grade Alan Oakley and Brendan Lang started the day on equal scores, Lang produced the better final round with a 97, with Oakley having a 101, which gave Lang the title finishing with 297 from Oakley 301, with Graham Trounce 309 and fourth spot going to Glenn Hards 310. 
In the women’s championships Molly O’Brien started the final round 8 shots ahead of Kerryn Price. Price played very steady golf applying pressure on O’Brien every step of the way, getting within three shots of the lead after the front 9 was played. Price continued to play well on the back 9 and with two holes left to play she had narrowed the margin to one shot, however O’Brien stayed steady on the last two holes to end up coming away with a five shot win. Debbie Milne won the A grade J Forsyth Trophy handicap section finishing with a nett of 232. 
In B grade Sue Vickery had a day out, finishing with 90 off the stick in her final round to give her the title of B grade champion with a total score of 279 with Cheryl Brinkmann coming runner’s up with 287.  Vickery also won the J Forsyth handicap section on a three way countback from Cheryl Brinkmann and Kavell Lyons. 
In C grade Pam Howell started the last round eight shots clear of Sue Bensch and Chantal Butcher. Bensch managed to peg back three shots, and Butcher two shots, but Pam stayed steady and was very excited to claim the C grade Championship title. Chantal Butcher won the J Forsyth handicap section for C grade. 
D grade was the closest of all the grades with Helen Beattie and Eileen Robertson tied after their three rounds, they then had a play off on the 9th hole, which took three goes before Beattie came out the eventual winner. Eileen ended up winning the J Forsyth trophy for the best handicap score.

If when parking golfers could park to the left on the grass and Country Music Festival Guests could park to the right.
The Members bar will also be open if you need a Pre Golf Beverage or purchase golf balls, and if the golf is not great please pop in half way around for a cool drink.

Hamilton Golf Club Results from Wednesday 13th March 2024
Wednesday was the second round of the championships, J Forsyth Trophy and Veterans event with a good field of 52 women participating. Lisa Murphy had the round of the day continuing her great form returning a very good score of 66 net, which will certainly see her handicap drop by a couple of shots. Lisa was the C grade winner, with Gina Kelly coming runner’s up. A grade was won by Kerryn Price with 75 nett, runners up Anne Ryan 76 nett. Kavell Lyons won B grade with 72 nett from Chantal Butcher 76. 
Balls down the line went to Cheryl Brinkmann & Rhonda Scullion 77 net, Margie Hedley, Fran McMeel and Pam Howell all 78 nett. 
Nearest the pin on 3rd Pam Howell, 6th Rachel Slade, 16th Debbie Milne, longest 13th Gillian Jenkins and second shot 15th Kerryn Price.
The championships in the open section currently has Kerryn Price on 173 and Lyn Satchell 182, with Molly O’Brien still to play her second round. 
B grade is very close with Kavell Lyons and Cheryl Brinkmann equal leaders on 192 from Di Raymond 193 and Fran McMeel 200. Sue Vickery is still to play her second round, and is certainly in with a chance. 
C grade has Pam Howell leading with 199 from Sue Bensch and Chantal Butcher both on 207.
Lisa Murphy is leading D grade two shots ahead of Helen Beattie, with Eileen Robertson four shots further back.
In the J Forsyth Trophy for handicap event in A grade Debbie Milne is the current leader on 155, from Glen Dixon & Jeanette Carmichael both on 159. Results from 6/3/2024 - First round of womens Championship/ Stroke/ Monthly medal / Vets & Super Vets.
Wednesday competition was stroke for the women with the first round of the championships, J Forsyth Trophy, monthly medal, and Veterans event, The championships for the women can either be played on a Saturday or a Wednesday but days had to be locked in prior to the event commencing. Four women played their first round on Saturday which included reigning champion Molly O’Brien who finished with 81 off the stick. This year there will be four grades Open/A grade 0-18 handicap, B grade 19-23, C grade 24-29 and D grade 30-54.
After Wednesday’s round there were some surprising results with some of our lower markers not having the best of rounds leaving Molly O’Brien sitting comfortably in top spot with 81, from Venita Mibus 88, Robyn Holcombe 89, and Ath Archer 91.
B grade has last year’s champion Di Raymond in the lead with 91, followed by Sue Vickery and Cheryl Brinkmann both 96 and Rita Walkom rounding out the top placing’s on 98.
C grade is being headed by Pam Howell with 98, from Sue Bensch 100, Sally Warburton 102, Chantal Butcher & Jenny Edwards both on 104.
D grade saw Eileen Robertson have a great round to be leading with 113 from Helen Beattie 116 and Gillian Jenkins 118.
Next Wednesday and Saturday 16th March is the second round of the Championships for the women, with the final round for all players being played on Sunday 17th March.
Winner of February monthly medal and A grade was Di Raymond on a countback from Venita Mibus, both finishing with 72 nett. 
B grade was won by Pam Howell 74 nett from Sue Bensch 75 nett
C grade went to Eileen Robertson 73 nett from Val Linke 76 nett. 
Balls down the line went to Robyn Holcombe 74, Rilta Walkom 75 and Debbie Milne 76 nett. 
Nearest the pin on 3rd hole was won by Debbie Milne, 6th hole went to Bev Tyson, 16th was won by Sally Warburton and the longest putt on the 13th went to Pam Howell. 
New player Lisa Murphy who has come through our beginner’s program won the final of the Doreen Fechner knock out match play last Monday. The event was played over 5 rounds with Lisa playing Alma Fonda in the final. Lisa played very consistent golf to have a good win 6/5.

Unfortunately due to the weather conditions predicted for this Saturday, it has been decided that the Super Saturday will be postponed. The time sheet has been deleted and a new one has been set up so if you had your name down you will need to re enter. There will also be no Super Pin this Saturday.

Hamilton Golf Club - results from Wednesday 28/2/24 Womens Par

39 women braved the hot and windy conditions on Wednesday to play in the second round of the Spectator Trophy which was a par event. 
Ath Archer has continued on from last week with another great score taking out A grade with +1 on a 3 way countback with Lyn Satchell claiming runner’s up and Glen Dixon just missing out and heading up the ball run down. 
B grade was won by Sally Warburton +1 from Judy Pekin square.
